N2 - Interrelations between body weight W and body height L are difficult to grasp when cartesian coordinates are applied for representation. For this reason Krüger in 1975 took the logarithm of weight against height for his investigations into growth acceleration, and found a relatively simple relation from about 1.5 to 13.5 years, where log W shows a quasilinear behaviour. Scrutinizing the weight growth relation again he splits this interval into two parts with deviating parameters of linear regressions giving better results for his aim. On the basis of this procedure the author in 1980 made advances towards a complete functional relation between log W and L thus including the period of fast growth from birth to the 100 cm — child by adding but one decisive term to the basic expression. The function thus attained is discussed, and applied to the approximation of ĆSSR body weight data by means of nonlinear regressions with the results given in tables and graphs. Because of the lacking of a relation between body weight and age a by-path is arranged in order to get the weight increase with time. To this end formulas and results of a preceding article about body height de¬velopment with age have to be recalled for a mathematical derivation resulting in tables and graphs for weight increase with age. Finally a comparison of height-dependent weight is given for six growth series of different countries as gained from analysis of somatograms by the author, most of them published here for the first time.
