N2  - In the ,,Zeitschrift für die Anthropologie", whose four volumes had been published in the years 1823 to 1826, the editor Friedrich Nasse is the representative of a quite modern definition of (biological) anthropology. It comprends on one side the Natural History of Mankind, which collected many materials and ideas during the last century; on the other side Nasse emphasizes the psychological aspect which had to be considered also with biological methods and which should not be separated from the human body. Nasse predicted that during the further differentiation of the natural sciences also anthropology will develop and create its own ,,organism".
Friedrich Nasse, however, was almost the only author who represented anthropology in the new journal. It is first and foremost a journal for psychiatry and psychotherapy. In the biography of F. Nasse, who had been an eminent and wellknown medical doctor, the anthropological interest was an episod which did not survive the "Zeitschrift für die Anthropologie". It is remarkable, however, that in the first half of the 19th ct. with its nebulous contents of anthropology a modern view is represented by Friedrich Nasse.
