The individual was probably a female over 30 years old with an ossified mass in the right maxillary sinus measuring 10 × 12.8 × 10.8 mm. The radiograph showed a well-demarcated radiolucent unilocular mass with some radiopaque areas without communication with the molar alveoli. Neither the macroscopic nor the radiological features are compatible with an inflammatory or malignant pathology, which favours the diagnosis of an ossifying fibroma. This article aims to provide a differential diagnosis of a large mass found in the right maxillary sinus of a Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age skull fragment and to extend the knowledge of diagnosing bone formation in bioarchaeological studies.
