The relative percentual three years' growth of the apprentice girls in most of the followed characters is 1.3—3.3 times higher. The growth of these girls between the 15th and 18th of their age slowed down considerably. In body height we can see an acceleration as compared with the 1951 and 1961 Slovak standard. As regards body weight the Slovak standards of the years 1951, 1961 and 1971 have not been reached; the girls have become slimmer. The apprentice girls have roughen skin folds and 2 % more body fat than the secondary-school girl students. In most characters the variability of the apprentice girls is 0.1—1.5 % lower. Considerable congruity (r = +0.74) has been found between the vital capacity of the lungs and between the body surface of the two groups. Urban girls are taller and lighter than girls coming from rural areas. The greatly improved socio-economic conditions have had a positive impact on the growth and development of the girls. ER -
