This material derives from two different caves, the large Dome of the Dead cave and a small, separate side cave discovered during quarrying operations in 1904. Fortunately similar bone tools were found in both localities making archaeological association possible between the two caves. Material from this smaller chamber is less numerous and for the most part has been destroyed or lost since its discovery. However, the two adult crania (Mladeč 5 and 6) represent distinctive specimens with clear morphological links to Neandertals. Here, we review details of the side chamber and test hypotheses concerning the relationship of Mladeč 5 and 6 to earlier populations. ER -
