The biological species is viewed as an assemblage of genetically related individuals which are for many generations reproductively isolated and are in a temporary evolutionary ballance with the conditions of environment. The dialectical unity between the continuity on the level of individual organisms and the qualitative discontinuity of separate species is emphasized. The relation between species and subspecific and superspecific units is discussed. ER -
