Except the visual information seen from the first or the second sight, there are also local's history or family's history contexts, that can be clarified only trough a direct narrative process.

The article deals with the collection of wedding dresses and accesories created in the last years in the Ethnographic Institute / Moravian Museum. The collection documents the changes of materials, cuts, colours and abilities of the tailors depending on the evolution of the style and fashion. The second part of the article presents the results of a survey concerning the look of the bride.

Thoughout the history, ceramic objects connected with the wedding ceremony can be identified. These items fulfilled a concrete ceremonial function (table dishes, moulds for wedding cake, bowls and plates from witch corn was thrown on the wedding guests or in which money was collected). Other ceramic products were used as gifts or a part of the trousseau. In the folk milieu, bakery moulds from the 19th century have been conserved. In the 20th century, ceramics have often been used as gifts.

The article, based on written sources and oral information, deals with the course of the wedding in five former German communities in the Vyškov region, that formed the so called Vyškov language island. The circumstances of the choice of the partner, the wedding cloathes and pastry are also described. The article contains a description of a concrete wedding in Rostěnice in 1935.
