ACTA MUSEI MORAVIAE - SCIENTIAE BIOLOGICAE 89/2004AbstractBeran L. & Horsák M. 2004: A contribution to the distribution of aquatic molluscs (Mollusca,
Gastropoda, Bivalvia) of the Moravian Karst PLA. Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno)
89: 1-11. - Aquatic molluscs of the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area (Southern Moravia,
Czech Republic) were studied from 1997 to 2003. Altogether 24 aquatic mollusc species were found
in the sites under study. Rich populations of the rare prosobranch snail Bythinella austriaca
(Frauenfeld, 1859) s.lat. were found.

AbstractKovařík F. 2004: Euscorpiops kubani sp.nov. from Laos (Scorpiones, Euscorpiidae, Scorpiopinae).
Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 89: 13-18. - Euscorpiops kubani sp.nov. is described
and compared with other species of the genus in the form of a key. In the new species, the external
trichobothria on the patella number 18 or 19 (5 or 6 eb, 2 esb, 2 em, 4 est, 5 et) and the ventral
trichobothria on the patella number 10 or 9. The pectinal teeth number 7 or 8. E. kubani sp.nov. is
closest to E. longimanus (Pocock, 1893) and E. problematicus (Kovařík, 2000). Apart from the trichobothrial
counts and positions, these three species can also be separated through differences in sexual dimorphism.
In the male of E. kubani sp.nov., the fingers of the pedipalp are flexed, whereas in the female they are
nearly straight, only slightly undulate. The same sexual dimorphism is present in E. asthenurus
(Pocock, 1900) from Bhutan and India; however, apart from the geographical distribution it also
differs in the number of ventral trichobothria on the patella (8 or 9) and in the number of pectinal
teeth (5 or 6). Euscorpiops kubani sp.nov. is the first species of the genus recorded from Laos.

on the collection of the Moravian Museum Brno, Czech Republic. Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae
(Brno) 89: 25-51. - We present all known records of Hydradephaga (Coleoptera: Gyrinidae, Haliplidae,
Dytiscidae) from Afghanistan, including recently studied material. The latter was chiefly collected during
five Czech scientific expeditions to Afghanistan in 1960's and is now deposited in the Moravian Museum Brno
(Czech Republic). Fourteen species are recorded from Afghanistan for the first time, and eleven first records
from other countries are provided. Altogether four species of the family Gyrinidae, four species of the
family Haliplidae, of which one is in doubt, and 52 species of the family Dytiscidae, of which two are in
doubt, are now known from Afghanistan. Only four of these taxa are known to be endemic to this country.
Members of the families Hygrobiidae and Noteridae have never been recorded.

AbstractOlejníček J. 2004: A note on the genus Trigonocera Becker, 1902 with description of a new
species (Insecta, Diptera, Dolichopodidae). Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno)

distinguishable from all other known species by having only two bristles on the 8th sternite,
which are somewhat shorter and thicker than in other Trigonocera Becker, 1902 species. A further
two species, T. lucidiventris Becker, 1922 and T. specialis Becker, 1922 are redescribed and
recorded from Laos and Nepal for the first time.

AbstractRamezanpoor Z. & Maršálek B. 2004: Biodiversity and species composition of phytoplankton in the ponds
of Lednice Park. Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 89: 175-192. - Phytoplankton was
studied in two shallow ponds (the "Zámecký" and "Růžový") situated in the Lednice Park in the course
of 2002 and 2003. The main water source for both ponds is the River Dyje that flows through the park.
The area itself is the most temperate area in the Czech Republic. The current condition of the
phytoplankton communities, together with the physical and chemical factors prevalent in these ponds
and the River Dyje were investigated. Quantitative samples were taken every two weeks during spring
and summer. The relative toxicity of microcystin resulting from algal bloom, the richness of species,
the diversity of species and the equitability indices, which displayed considerable fluctuation within
the period of investigation, are all discussed. Diversity indices decreased in correlation with an
increasing abundance of Microcystis. Minimum diversity was recorded during algal bloom.
The same was true for most of the correlation between the number of species and the equitability index.
For most of the parameters measured and correlations examined, there were no differences between
localities except in the case of Růžový Pond, where the relationships within the phytoplankton
community and all the parameters measured with respect to equitability showed significant differences.
The main conclusions that may be drawn from the results obtained are: 1) The bodies of water in the
Lednice Park are tending towards low diversity and eutrophication. 2) The different community of phytoplankton
in Růžový Pond may be due to some interaction between water body nutrients and their combination
with materials originating either from the decomposition of tree leaves (Ailanthus glandulosa, Salix sp.
and Acer campestre) or ion exchange with roots, or both.

AbstractSutorý K. 2004: Material of type character in the Münch-Bellinghausen collection in the Moravian
Museum, Brno (BRNM). 4. Anton Rochel. Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 89: 203-227. -
Rochel's specimens of type character deposited in BRNM are listed. Three of them are vouchers of not
previously published names (in schedis), 16 are vouchers to "nomina nuda" published mostly in his
"Catalogus", a relatively unknown list of specimens he distributed, and 18 are validly or invalidly
published names in his work "Plantae Banatus rariores". Two names are not validly published but they
were cited in the protologue of other Rochel names. Two names erroneously joint with Rochel are
discussed (Centaurea austriaca, Galium ochroleucum). Remarks on his exsiccate series Plantae
Pannonicae Exsiccatae and Plantae Banatus Exsiccatae are made.
