Abstract
Kment P. & Bryja J. 2006: Revised occurrence of Heterotoma species (Heteroptera: Miridae) in the Czech Republic and Slovakia with remarks on nomenclature, diagnostic characters and ecology Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 91: 7-52. - A revision of available material of the plant bug genus Heterotoma Lepeletier et Serville, 1825 from significant museum and private collections in the Czech Republic was carried out. The occurrence of Heterotoma merioptera (Scopoli, 1763) in the Czech Republic (both in Bohemia and Moravia) and Slovakia, and the occurrence of H. planicornis (Pallas, 1772) only in the Czech Republic (both Bohemia and Moravia) are documented. Heterotoma merioptera is also recorded from Montenegro for the first time. A history of taxonomical confusion between the species is reviewed, and neotypes are designated for both H. merioptera and H. planicornis to fix current usage for these names. The diagnostic characters, bionomy, phenology, and ecology of both species are reviewed and discussed. Lists of the most important references covering both species are added. Both H. merioptera and H. planicornis are zoophytophagous, univoltine species, overwintering in the egg stage. Adults of H. merioptera occur from mid-May to the end of August, those of H. planicornis from mid-June to the end of September (exceptionally to mid-October). Although both species are sympatric in the Czech Republic, and sometimes occur very close to one another (e.g. in the city of Brno), their co-ocurrence in the same locality was not recorded. Heterotoma merioptera is the more thermophilous species, preferring natural and semi-natural habitats (steppes, forest margins), while H. planicornis is more abundant at higher altitudes (e.g., in xerothermic patches above 400 m a.s.l., among the littoral growths around ponds and lakes); at lower altitudes it usually occurs on ruderal vegetation or in orchards.

Abstract
Straka J., Malenovský I. & Batelka J. 2006: The genus Halictoxenos Pierce, 1908 (Strepsiptera, Stylopidae) in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 91: 69-82. - Based on a revision of museum material and recent collections, three species of the genus Halictoxenos Pierce, 1908 (Strepsiptera: Stylopidae) are recorded from the Czech Republic. They have been identified as H. arnoldi Perkins, 1918, H. spencei (Nassonov, 1893) and H. tumulorum Perkins, 1918. The latter two species were also found in Slovakia. Figures and diagnostic characters are provided for the females of the three species and information is given on their distribution and hosts. In both the countries, H. arnoldi has so far been found associated with Lasioglossum (Lasioglossum) xanthopus, H. spencei with eight solitary species from the "acarinate" lineage of Lasioglossum, subgenus Evylaeus and H. tumulorum with three species of Halictus (all Hymenoptera: Halictidae). Lasioglossum (Evylaeus) sabulosum (Warncke, 1986) and L. (E.) sexstrigatum (Schenck, 1870) are reported as new hosts for H. spencei. No morphological changes due to stylopization were observed on any of the examined hosts.

Abstract
Fischer O. A. 2006: Dung beetles of the genera Onthophagus Latreille and Aphodius Illiger (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) found in canine faeces in mown parks and in equine faeces in and around the city of Brno. Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae Biologicae (Brno) 91: 83-91. - Canine faeces on mown public grass often contain the causative agents of zoonoses, especially parasitoses. Dung beetles of the genera Onthophagus Latreille, 1802 and Aphodius Illiger, 1798 are able to develop in canine faeces and partly decompose them, but they may also contaminate grazing pastures for animals, such as horses, with the causative agents of canine zoonoses originating from canine excrement. The numbers of canine faecal deposits were counted on 18 mown areas of public grass in the city of Brno (Moravia, Czech Republic) between April and June 2003. The species composition of dung beetle fauna associated with canine and equine faeces was studied in twelve Brno localities in the years 2001-2003. The mean number of canine faeces was 10.9±10.2 per 100 m2 in city parks in April-June 2003. Only two (1%) of 196 canine faeces were colonized by dung beetles. A total of 211 dung beetles were collected, 92 of them in canine faeces and 119 in equine faeces. Onthophagus fracticornis (Preyssler), O. coenobita (Herbst), O. ovatus (Linnaeus), Aphodius distinctus (O. F. Müller), A. sticticus (Panzer), A. prodromus (Brahm) and A. fimetarius (Linnaeus) were found in both canine and equine faeces. O. vacca (Linnaeus) was found only in canine faeces. The eudominant species found in canine and horse faeces were O. fracticornis and O. ovatus and A. prodromus, A. fimetarius, A. sticticus, respectively. The similarity of species composition in dung beetle communities in canine and equine faeces was high (84.4%).

Kolibáč J. 2006: Taxonomic status of Trichodes hidalgo Winkler, 1959 (Coleoptera, Cleridae). Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 91: 93-95. - Trichodes hidalgo Winkler, 1959 is synonymized with Trichodes crabroniformis Fabricius, 1787. The unique specimen of T. hidalgo is identical with the east Mediterranean population of T. crabroniformis. The locality label "Hispania" was probably changed in error.

Bogusch P. 2006: The velvet ants (Hymenoptera: Mutillidae) of the Czech Republic and Slovakia: an identification key and annotated checklist. Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 91: 103-148. - This study of Czech and Slovak Mutillidae consists of two parts: the identification key includes all 20 Czech and Slovak species, and also 9 other species with distribution areas reaching neighbouring Hungary, Austria, and Ukraine. Graphics of determination characters are included. The annotated checklist reviews the state of knowledge on all species of Mutillidae reported from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Notes on the distribution, biology, hosts, lists of localities and distribution maps of all Czech and Slovak species are presented. Physetopoda cingulata (Costa, 1858) and P. pusilla (Klug, 1835) are published for Slovakia for the first time; and Smicromyrme sicana (De Stefani, 1887) first for Bohemia.
