VLASTA FIALOVÁ

Vlasta Fialová (* June 5, 1896 in Holešov, † February 6, 1972 in Brno)

This outstanding personality is connected with the research of the Kralice fortified settlement, the seat of the secret printing house of the Czech Brethren. After her studies of history, geography and archaeology she worked as a teacher and then from 1952 (till 1958) as the head of the Historical Department of the Moravian Museum in Brno. Her life-long interest was the Kralice fortified settlement. The excavations undertaken in co-operation with the Archaeological Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and the Regional Heritage Institute in Brno brought unexpected results. First of all more than 4 000 original types and decorations were a discovery of world-wide importance. Fialová initiated the construction of the Memorial of the Kralice Bible, worked as a vice-president of the local Museum Association and published a review on Kralice issues. She wrote many scientific as well as newspaper articles, gave many lectures and prepared numerous exhibitions.
