Abstract
This paper critically examines recent paleoanthropological evidence for hominid colonization of Eastern Eurasia. After discussing new archaeological, geological, and morphological evidence for the earliest human presence in China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia and Siberia, and documenting its surprisingly great antiquity, it suggests that the time has come to reconsider the hypothesis about the Asian roots of Homo erectus.
