Abstract
Physical activity and fitness are positively linked to cognitive and academic performance in youth, although elite-level sports participation may sometimes correspond with lower academic achievement, highlighting the need for balanced dual-career programs. Overall, the evidence suggests that sports participation, when balanced and supported by appropriate educational methods, contributes positively to students' academic success. This study investigates the impact of participation in sports competitions on students’ academic outcomes. It examines the differences in mathematics and physical education grades between students who participate in sports and those who do not, as well as the relationship between overall academic success and participation in competitive sports. The research tests hypotheses regarding grade differences based on participation in and level of competition, and examines whether higher competition levels correlate with better academic performance.
