| Abstract | | The paper analyses some results of the anthropological examination of a group of 17 years old girls, of their parents and grand parents. A total of 232 probands, 464 parents and 928 grand parents were examined. The research was realized in January and February 1975, 1976 and 1977. All the examined girls were students of secondary schools in Kolín, middle Bohemia, and all came from the Kolín District. They were born in 1958, 1959 and 1960. The research focused on certain anthropological and demographic characteristics of the probands, of their parents and grand parents, the heredity of body height and equations for predicting the body height were also derived.
When analysing the relations of the body height of the probands to the height of their parents and grand parents we found that the height of the daughter is more distinctly influenced from the side of the mother than from the side of the father. When studying the dependence of the proband's body height on the heights of the grand parents it has been concluded that the influence of the grand parents from the mother's side was more distinct. When considering the heredity of the parents' body height we realized that the determination of the father's height was more distinct from the side of his father than from his mother's side. When studying the dependence of the mother's body height on the height of her parents the results obtained fully prove the relations found for the heights of the probands, fathers and mothers, i.e. the body height of the mother is more distinctly influenced from the side of her mother than from her father's side.
